Angels and Christmas are inseparable.

After all, it was an angel that foretold the birth of Jesus to Mary. It was angel that reassured Joseph in a dream. And it was an angel that announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds.

In our story Christmas in Idaho, it is appropriately a delicate angel who sets in motion the allegorical drama which is about to enfold.

Like most of the illustrations in this book, Ray Downing used 3D computer graphics to create the image above.

Unlike conventional computer graphics depictions, however, this image is soft, delicate and lovingly crafted, a treatment for which Downing is known.
